Site Licensed Statistical Software

The SAS® System for Windows from SAS Institute, Inc.

SAS Institute products are available to UVM affiliates at no cost. SAS modules in this site license include Base SAS, SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH, SAS/ETS, SAS/FSP, SAS/AF, SAS/OR, SAS/QC, SAS/IML, SAS/ACCESS, and several others. Release 9.4 is the current version and will run only under Windows 10 (non "Home" versions only). A 64-bit edition is also available.

A SAS version for Macintosh is not available. SAS Institute never updated the Macintosh version after 6.12 and has no plans to introduce a SAS version to run under Mac OS X.

Version 9 online documentation is part of the installation. This documentation is essentially all SAS manuals in Windows Help format. Printed manuals are available separately and may be ordered through the University store or directly from SAS Institute, Inc.

For installation information, contact Maria Sckolnick. There is no charge for a SAS license.

IBM SPSS for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux from IBM Inc.

In the summer of 2011, ETS signed a new contract with IBM to provide unlimited usage of IBM SPSS products, including Windows, Macintosh, and Linux versions, to all UVM faculty, staff, and students at no cost. The current license also includes SPSS Sample Power.

The current release is 26 and can be downloaded from UVM's software archive. A 64-bit version for Windows is also available. The Macintosh version requires OS X 10.10 or higher.

Version 27 manuals can be downloaded from here.

Version 26 manuals can be downloaded from here.

JMP Statistical Discovery Software from SAS Institute

In the summer of 2009, ETS purchased a campus-wide license for JMP, a visually-oriented, comprehensive statistical software package. JMP is popular in various disciplines, including engineering, quality control, and biological sciences. The latest version is JMP 14 and is available for both Windows and Macintosh from UVM's software archive.

GraphPad Prism from GraphPad Software

In the summer of 2007, ETS purchased a campus-wide license for GraphPad Prism, a biostatistical analysis program designed for the practical scientist. It includes the usual battery of statistical tests and curve-fitting (nonlinear regression) using several pre-defined equations, plus a wide variety of scientific graphs. The latest version is Prism 8 and is available for both Windows and Macintosh from UVM's software archive.

Stata/SE for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux from StataCorp LP

In cooperation with Larner College of Medicine Technical Services, as of July 2018, a campus-wide license for Stata/SE is now available. The latest version is Stata/SE 16 and is available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux from UVM's software archive.

Minitab from Minitab Inc.

As of July 2018, UVM no longer licenses Minitab due to its lack of use.

Spotfire S+ for Windows, Linux, and Solaris from TIBCO

As of October 2017, UVM no longer licenses S+ due to R's popularity, its open-source equivalent.
