VisualDx Improves Features to Locate Images of Skin of Color

Date:
Tuesday, November 17, 2020

VisualDx is a point-of-care diagnostic system, providing high-quality images to help identify and classify visible patient symptoms. VisualDx has several features that allow you to locate images of clinical signs in skin of color. These images are licensed for clinical and educational use by UVM and UVMMC students faculty and staff.

Use the Skin of Color Differential Builder

Click on the 'Dermatology Skin of Color' builder to have your differential diagnosis show dark skin images first. However, you can easily toggle between skin of color and all skin types.

Use the Skin of Color Filter Within Search Results

You can search for a specific symptom, medication, or diagnosis in the main search box. From within the relevant article, click the 'Skin of Color' button above the images to see skin of color results.

Use the Skin Pigmentation Filter Within an Article

If you would like to limit your image results further by a particular skin tone from within a VisualDx article, click on “View All Images” and then click on “Filter Images” to view and apply the Skin Pigmentation filters using Fitzpatrick skin pigmentation types.

If you have any questions about using VisualDx, contact Dana Medical Librarian Alice Stokes
