UVM Libraries Opens New Multimedia Recording Studio
Located in the basement level of Howe Library, the Multimedia Recording Studio has everything you need to make high-quality audio and video recordings.
Things to know:
- The studio is available for all students, faculty, and staff.
- Record audio or video interviews using high-quality equipment (consider: voiceovers, narrations, podcasts, interviews, photography, and video staging).
- Achieve different configurations with drop cloths, green screens, and light kits.
- Record isolated audio tracks in a sound-proof environment.
- Take photographs in a controlled environment, with lighting and equipment support.
- Coming this spring — setups for virtual reality (for gaming, CAD design, 3D imaging, and other applications).

Get started:
- Get access to the studio when you stop by (first floor Howe), email (media@uvm.edu), or call (802-656-1947) Media Services.
- Once you’ve recorded, pop upstairs to the Multimedia Lab to edit your work using Audacity, Final Cut Pro, Lightroom, Rush, Photoshop, or plenty of other tools (the lab offers the full range of Adobe Creative Suite programs). Media Services staff are available for support.
UVM Libraries offers support to anyone in need of geospatial project support
Who would use this service?
Anyone who has gathered data that they'd like to connect to a map. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) integrates location data with descriptive information. If you think this could serve your project, we have experts who can help.
Get started:

Who would use this service?
Anyone who has gathered data for a project or research. UVM Libraries’ statistical design and data specialist (Maria Sckolnick) knows that not everyone who has to present statistics is an expert at how to do this.

Exhibit: Seeds of Renewal
“Seeds of Renewal” explores Abenaki agricultural history, cuisine, and ceremony. It is the first museum exhibition in Northeastern North America focused on the ecology of the region's modern indigenous peoples.
When and where? The exhibit runs through April 28, 2023, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. in the Billings Library Apse. It is free and open to the public.
