Abstract:
During the past decade, there has been a growing need for efficient synthetic methods using mild action conditions for making novel carbon rich molecules and macromolecules with tunable properties for specific applications in the semiconductor industry. A new synthetic route involving a cascade cyclization to synthesize carbon rich extended conjugated structures with desirable properties under mild conditions has been proposed. To test the efficiency of this cascade cyclization, a model compound, allene is proposed and synthesized under mild reaction conditions. A synthetic route for the synthesis of 6-(4'-nitrophenyl)benzo[a]fluorene-11-one is reported. Fluorenone was synthesized from the aldehyde using 10 mol% of copper iodide.
