In 1991, Russian cosmonautes Anatoli Arzebarski and Sergei Krikalev are stranded on the MIR orbital space station due to political upheaval in the Soviet Union. Unable to return to Earth as scheduled, Krikalev becomes the first human to live a record ten months on a space station.
