Last chance Une dernière chance /
"Paul Émile D'Entremont travels the world to tell the stories of five asylum seekers who flee their native countries to escape homophobic violence. They face hurdles integrating into Canada, fear deportation and anxiously await a decision that will change their lives forever. All five remain hopeful their adopted land will show them the compassion they deserve. Around them, lawyers and support groups mobilize as Canada's openness to refugees comes under threat. Last Chance champions the cause of sexual minorities who refuse to deny their core identity. It brings to light the reality of people who boldly and bravely assert their differences against all odds."--Container. Trudi is a lesbian from Jamaica; Jennifer is a transgender woman from Beirut, Lebanon; Carlos is a gay man from Colombia; Zaki is a gay man who was imprisoned in his native Egypt for being homosexual; and Alvaro is a gay man from Nicaragua. The film shows them at various stages in their attempts to emigrate to Canada.

On the road with Mary
Filmed a few months before the 2004 presidential election, the film provides a gripping view of an American living in fear. From a miserable neighbourhood in Detroit ravaged by crack and violence, to the militarized border with Mexico, this program explores the unbearable other side of the American dream. Along the way the viewers are introduced to exceptional human beings deeply involved in their communities.
