Earth vs. the flying saucers

Dr. Russell Marvin heads up Operation Skyhook, which is tasked with sending experimental rockets into the upper atmosphere. Unfortunately, all the rockets are somehow disappearing. During the final rocket launching, a flying saucer lands and the military fires upon the aliens, triggering the destruction of the installation and a cryptic warning from the aliens. In response, Dr. Marvin and his colleagues develop an anti-magnetic beam weapon to disable the flying discs. The weapon and the mettle of the populace of Washington, DC are soon put to the test, when the flying saucers attack.

Robert Louis Stevenson's The body snatcher: A surgeon and teacher of anatomy needs fresh cadavers for classroom demonstrations and pays a sinister cabman to supply them. When the cemeteries become more closely guarded, the cabman turns to other means to provide the bodies.

Berlin. One Satuday. One Sunday. On their day off in Weimar-era Berlin, four of these five spend the day by the Nikolassee lakeside. Amidst flirtation, they play records, swim, picnic and walk in the forest, enjoying a respite from city life, and the everyday grind that they cannot escape. In a manner prefiguring the Italian Neorealists, these non-actors play versions of themselves in loosely outlined scenarios. The sense of what an ordinary day might have been like in this particular place and time is enchantingly captured in this bit of cinematic amber.
