Ararat

Edward, a veteran filmmaker of Armenian descent, is in Toronto shooting a film about the Siege of Van, which lead to the genocide of over a million Armenian people at the hands of Turkish troops. Raffi has been sent to Turkey to shoot background footage for the film. Raffi's mother Ani, an author and historian, is also involved in the project as a consultant. As Raffi attempts to re-enter Canada with cans of exposed film, he's detained by David, a suspicious customs official who has his own tenuous link to the film.

Tells the story of Bibiane, who accidentally hits a man while driving one rainy summer night. The victim is a fisherman who is left on the highway and returns home to slowly die. Guiltily attending the man's funeral, Bibiane strikes up a conversation with his son, Evian and soon the two have become romantically involved, with Bibiane unable to tell Evian her secret.

Charlie Kohler is a piano player in a bar. Lena, a waitress at the bar, is in love with him. One of Charlie's brothers, Chico, a crook, takes refuge in the bar because he is being chased by two gangsters, Momo and Ernest. But Charlie's real name is Edouard Saroyan, who was once a virtuoso who gave up playing after his wife's suicide. Charlie now has to deal wih Chico, Ernest, Momo, Fido (his youngest brother who lives with him), and Lena. Charlie ends up stumbling into the criminal underworld and a whirlwind love affair.
