Abstract:
Presented in this thesis is a theoretical foundation for the linear response formalism and the electrodynamic description of plasma systems as continuous media. The formulation of the linear response function is established for strongly coupled Coulomb liquids in the quantum regime. Calculations in the strong coupling regime are based on the quasi-localized charge approximation (QLCA) for the description of plasma waves in a dispersive medium. Data of pair correlation functions, generated by Diffusion quantum Monte Carlo (DMC) simulations are used to determine the dynamical structure function and collective mode dispersions of single and bilayer systems. Dielectric matrices are developed to study the collective mode behaviors of the layered charged-particle plasma systems over a wide range of coupling parameters and layer spacings.
