Exhibit: The Sun, The Moon, The Stars

Date:
Monday, March 25, 2024

March 18 - June 15, 2024
Monday - Friday, 10 am - 5 pm
Silver Special Collections, Billings Library Room 201
University of Vermont
48 University Place, Burlington, VT

Silver Special Collections holds many items that reference the sun, the moon and the stars. Our spring exhibit includes a diverse selection of artists’ books, literary broadsides, schoolbooks, scientific studies and personal correspondence that shed light on human connections to the heavens through time.

To recognize the 2024 total solar eclipse, the exhibit includes notes from a 1780 expedition to observe an eclipse in Maine, detailed descriptions presented in two early 19th-century astronomy textbooks, observations and photos of Vermont’s last total solar eclipse in 1932, and Vermonter Leland Kinsey’s poem, “Solar Eclipse.”

Free and open to the public. For more information, contact Special Collections at uvmsc.uvm.edu or 802-656-2138.
