Heimat a chronicle of Germany.
[Contains episode 10-11] Hermann travels to America, where Paul Simon takes him under his wing. He returns to Germany a well-known composer. When a radio station commissions him to do a concert, he composes a modern, avant-garde musical composition. Few in Schabbach, including Maria, understand his music. The entire Simon family returns to Schabbach upon the death of Maria Simon. There is sadness, anger, and happiness as the clan comes together one more time.

[Contains episode 9] Maria's youngest son is both talented and precocious, and she spoils him. She does not want him to grow up and experience the exciting world outside her kitchen.

Heimat a chronicle of Germany.
[Contains episodes 7-8] Anton Simon, who works in the German army's propaganda unit, marries his girlfriend by proxy, while Otto and Maria briefly reunite. As the war ends, the villagers of Schabbach accept the American G.I.'s who seem to be everywhere, but the title really refers to Paul Simon, who finally returns home from America.

[Contains episodes 4-6] A new highway is built near Schabbach, which will change the village forever. It not only allows villagers access to the outside world but it also brings new people to Schabbach, including engineer Otto Wohlenben, who falls for Maria Simon. Just as Maria and Otto feel happy and secure in their romance, Paul Simon, Maria's long-lost husband, sends a message from far away. Otto, who is half Jewish, loses Maria and then loses his job. With World War II in full swing, many of Schabbach's young men have gone off to war, including Maria's sons, Anton and Ernst. Her third son, Hermann, grows up in the shadow of the war.

Heimat a chronicle of Germany.
[Disc 1 contains Introduction to Heimat by Marc Silberman and episode 1] The Simon family is introduced, including Mathias and Kathariana Simon and their two sons, Paul and Eduard. Paul has just returned from World War I, and the residents of the village of Schabbach drop by to greet him. Paul seems happy to be home and eventually marries Maria Wiegand, but the isolated nature of the village makes him restless.
