REEL PROGRAMMING CALCULATOR
ENTER NUMERIC VALUES IN INCHES (decimals are
ok)
This calculator computes the maximum number of frames that will fit on the
specified length of microfilm for the given document dimensions.
You should always stay below the frames per reel number when programming
reels. Sometimes intentional retakes and additional targets can require
more frames than you calculated for, and there could be slight variations
in the document size that affect reel capacity.
The results follow this order:
Reduction ratio (e.g., 14x) - Orientation
(how the image is situated on the reel) - Frames per reel
