Vermont Newspaper Project
Supplemental Survey

The Vermont Newspaper Project, a collaborative endeavor between the University of Vermont and the Vermont Department of Libraries, is part of a national effort administered by the United States Newspaper Project and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities to preserve and provide access to the nation's newspaper resources. This survey will be used to supplement information gathered during the original planning survey of 1994. 

Instructions for completing survey

I. Institutional Information 

Information provided in this section will be entered into the Project database and used to describe your institution. Please be sure to correct any errors that may appear. 

II. Holdings Information 

Information provided in this section will be entered into the Project database and used to describe the extent of your collections. The Project is mainly concerned with Vermont titles. Please complete a box for each Vermont title you collect for each format. It is very important to distinguish between holdings in each format. 
 

Title Record the title as it appears on the masthead of the newspaper. The project can provide assistance in determining title changes, and can provide detailed diagrams for most major title groups.
Frequency Record the frequency of publication, i.e., weekly, semiweekly, daily, etc.
Format Record the format of the item, i.e., paper, microfilm, microfiche, etc.
Condition Record the condition of the item.
For paper: excellent, brittle, extremely poor, mixed. 
For microfilm/microfiche: readable or unreadable.
Years held For titles spanning ten years or less, please record holdings information as described in the Local Data Records Kit. 

For titles spanning more than ten years, please indicate the frequency (weekly, semiweekly, monthly, daily) and record the missing issues.
