SAS Institute products are available to UVM affiliates at no cost. SAS modules in this site license include Base SAS, SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH, SAS/ETS, SAS/FSP, SAS/AF, SAS/OR, SAS/QC, SAS/IML, SAS/ACCESS, and several others.
Release 9.4 is the current version and will run only under Windows 7, 8, and 10 (non "Home" versions only). A 64-bit edition is also available.
A SAS version for Macintosh is not available. SAS Institute never updated the Macintosh version after 6.12, and has no plans to introduce a version of SAS to run under Mac OS X.
Version 9 online documentation is part of the installation. This documentation is essentially all SAS manuals in Windows Help format. Printed manuals are available separately and may be ordered through the University store or directly from SAS Institute, Inc..

In the summer of 2011, ETS signed a new contract with IBM to provide unlimited usage of IBM SPSS products, including Windows, Macintosh, and Linux versions, to all UVM faculty, staff, and students at no cost. The current license covers all IBM SPSS Statistics modules and also includes SPSS Sample Power.
The current release for Windows and for macOS is 24 and can be downloaded from UVM's software archive. A 64-bit version for Windows is also available. The Macintosh version requires OS X 10.10 or higher.

In the summer of 2009, ETS purchased a campus-wide license for JMP, a visually-oriented, comprehensive statistical software package. JMP is popular in a wide variety of disciplines, including engineering, quality control, and biological sciences. The latest version is JMP 13 and is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions for both Windows and Macintosh from UVM's software archive.
As of July 2009, UVM will have only a limited number of licenses for Minitab since it is no longer licensed for student usage. Introductory statistics courses, which previously used Minitab, will now be using JMP, which has both Windows and Macintosh versions.

S+ is the commercial version of the S-language, a powerful and comprehensive statistical programming language. S+ includes a graphical user interface and is similar to the open source program R. ETS, in cooperation with the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, has a limited 150 user license for S+, which includes several add-on modules such as Spatial Statistics, Environmental Statistics, FinMetrics, and Wavelets. Version 8.2 is the newest release, with versions available for Windows, 32-bit Linux, and Solaris. The license also allows unlimited usage by students when installed on student-owned computers. As of the last modified date at the bottom of this page, there are approximately 100 licenses remaining in our 150 user license. There is no charge for an S+ license.
In the summer of 2007, ETS purchased a campus-wide license for GraphPad Prism, a biostatistical analysis program designed for the practical scientist. It includes the usual battery of statistical tests, along with curve-fitting (nonlinear regression) using a number of pre-defined equations, plus a wide variety of scientific graphs. The latest version is Prism 7 and is available for both Windows and Macintosh from UVM's software archive.
Our current license for Stata is a limited 150-user site license for Stata/SE, a widely used statistical program with cutting-edge statistical methods. The latest version is Stata 14 and is available for Windows, Macintosh and Linux in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions. For more information or installation media, contact Alan Howard.
