Facilitated Study Room in Bailey/Howe Library
Location:
- The Facilitated Study Room is located in the Microforms area on the 2nd floor of the Bailey/Howe Library along the south wall,
third door on the left, past the great stair and the Reference Service Desk.
Specialized Equipment in this room:
- Two Windows 2000 computers with speakers, headphones, CD-RW drives and Microsoft
Office XP
- Two flatbed scanners with OmniPage Pro to scan documents to be read by
the computers
- Braille Blazer to print in Braille:
- Closed Circuit TV to magnify text and other objects placed under a camera
- Reading Edge Kurzweil Reader to scan, digitize and read back a sheet of text
Specialized Programs on these computers:
- Dragon Naturally Speaking 6.0
- Inspiration 6
- JAWS for Windows 4.0
- Lernout & Hauspie Kurzweill 3000
- MAGpie 2
- Scan and Read Pro
- Total Recorder
- Various other programs such as media players and tools to help with conversion
of text-to-speach, etc.
