Services for Users with Special Needs - About the Facilities

Cook Chemistry/Physics Library

The Cook Chemistry/Physics Library is located at Room A302 in the middle of the third floor of the Cook Physical Sciences Building on the main campus of the University of Vermont.

IMPORTANT:
Any physically challenged individual studying in the Chemistry/Physics Library should alert library staff just in case there is an unexpected emergency requiring immediate evacuation of the building.

Handicapped Parking and Access:
There are three handicapped parking spaces a short distance from the Cook Building. All of them are reachable by turning onto Carrigan Drive from East Avenue.
  • Two spaces on the south end of the building
  • One space on the north side of the Bailey/Howe Library, just across the access road to the south of the Cook Building.
  • Access to the building is through the south doors closest to the handicapped parking.
  • Proceed through the double doors
  • Take the elevator on the left about 3/4 way down the hallway to the third floor
  • Go left along the hallway until you reach A302 on your left

  • For entry into the building after hours and on University Holidays:
    Please call the Cook Library at 656-2268 so someone can let you in.

    Elevator:
  • Enter the south doors
  • Go up the ramp, through the first set of doors
  • The elevator is on the left side of the corridor just before the doors leading to the central core.

  • Handicapped Restrooms:
    There are no handicapped restrooms in the Cook Library.
    Please ask at the service desk for directions to the nearest location.

    TTY Telephones:
    There are currently no TTY Telephones available in the Cook Library.

    Specialized Programs on Public Computers:
  • Magnifier for Windows 2000
  • Narrator for Windows 2000
    - Note: While all of the computers come equiped with sound cards, there are no speakers attached. Please feel free to bring a set of headphones.
  • On-Screen Keyboard for Windows 2000

  • Where to go for help:
    Please make your needs known.
  • Staff working at the service desk will help retrieve materials in hard to reach locations
