Health Sciences Clear filter(s)
    This resource provides bibliographic records, some with links to full text, for the research and professional literature in nursing and other allied health fields such as physical therapy and athletic training.
  • ClinicalKey
    This resource combines a broad range of resources within a single interface: full-text journals and reference books; Medline citations; all medical and surgical titles from the Clinics of North America; First Consult point-of-care clinical monographs; Procedures Consult surgical videos; drug monographs from Gold Standard and Practice Guidelines from the National Guideline Clearinghouse.
  • Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM-5)
    This resource, abbreviated as DSM-5, is the fifth edition of the American Psychiatric Association's (APA) classification and diagnostic tool of mental disorders. The 2013 update includes a comprehensive overview of each listed disorder as well as detailed information regarding the specific criteria required for a diagnosis. This manual is intended to be used by both healthcare and mental health professionals.
    This resource is used to find scholarly and evidence-based articles from biomedical journals, and is especially strong in its coverage of drug and pharmaceutical research.
  • Health and psychosocial instruments
    Use this resource to find information on measurement instruments such as questionnaires, checklists, rating scales and tests in the health and psychosocial sciences, organizational behavior, and library and information science. For reviews of tests, Mental Measurements Yearbook is preferred.
  • Health and wellness
    This resource provides access to health and health-related information from journal articles, magazine articles, reference resources, book chapters, newsletters, pamphlets, drug and herbal remedy information, and multimedia sources.
  • IBM Micromedex
    This resource is a collection of drug and toxicology databases, including Martindale, Material Safety Data Sheets, Physician's Desk Reference (PDR), POISONDEX, and others. Together, these provide comprehensive information about drugs, diseases, and toxicology, as well as drug interactions, IV compatibility, laboratory tests, product lookups, dosing calculators, and "CareNotes" for patient education.
  • LILACS (Latin American & Caribbean Health Sciences Literature)
    The resource includes freely available literature related to medicine and the health sciences that has been published in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. It contains articles, including clinical studies and systematic reviews, from almost 900 journals, as well as theses, scientific reports and government publications. Coverage extends back to 1982. The database is published by a network of international health organizations coordinated by the Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information.

    This collection of e-books contains numerous popular nursing titles, including the Lippincott Manual of Nursing Practice, Lippincott’s Nursing Drug Guide, Professional Guide to Signs & Symptoms, Manual of Laboratory and Diagnostic Tests, and many others.

    This database is a free online resource from the U.S. National Library of Medicine that provides high-quality, authoritative health information for the consumer. It includes a medical encyclopedia, with articles, images, and videos; health topic pages with carefully selected links and references to the medical literature; drug and supplement information; and much more.

  • Mental measurements yearbook with Tests in print
    This resource includes standardized English-language tests and measurements used in education, early childhood development, reading, speech and hearing, psychology, and related fields. It contains descriptions, professional reviews, and pricing information for the tests, but due to copyright limitations, does not provide the actual test instruments.
  • Natural medicines
    This resource is an evidence-based, full-text resource for information about natural medicines and complementary therapies. Detailed monographs are provided for hundreds of foods, herbs, and dietary supplements, including information about their safety and effectiveness, dosing and administration, adverse effects, interactions, and references.
  • Ovid MEDLINE
    This resource is used to find scholarly and evidence-based articles from journals in medicine, including nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and health care administration, plus allied health fields and biosciences.
  • Prescriber's letter
    This resource contains updates on new developments in drug therapy for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other medication prescribers. Content includes continuing education modules.
  • ProQuest health management
    This resource covers health administration topics including public health administration, health economics, hospitals, health insurance, management and ethics in healthcare. Content includes journals, dissertations and theses. Search by keyword or subject heading. Results include citations, abstracts and some full-text.
  • PsycINFO
    This resource contains international scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, books and dissertations in psychology and the social, behavioral and health sciences. PsycINFO is the most comprehensive database for literature in the psychological sciences.
  • PsycTESTS
    Published by the APA, this resource provides information on thousands of psychological, behavioral, and achievement instruments. Measures, tests and scales are included, and in some cases, the actual instrument can be viewed and downloaded.
  • PubMed
    This free resource comprises citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. PubMed citations and abstracts include the fields of biomedicine and health, covering portions of the life sciences, behavioral sciences, chemical sciences, and bioengineering. This resource is developed and maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). (Access for non-UVM affiliates)
  • Symptom Media
    This resource consists of a film library of clinical vignettes, guided case studies, and assessment tools to show what mental health issues look like in a clinical setting.
  • Toxicology abstracts
    This resource covers toxicology journals with an emphasis on industrial and agricultural chemicals, household products, and pharmaceuticals. It is part of the Agricultural & Environmental Science Database.
  • UpToDate
    This resource contains descriptions of medical diseases and disorders and is designed to be consulted by health care practitioners as they evaluate potential clinical diagnostic and treatment options. It also includes drug information, medical calculators, images, patient information in English and Spanish, continuing medical education modules, and links to full-text journal articles.
  • VisualDx
    This resource is a diagnostic decision support system designed to aid health care practitioners in the diagnosis of visually identifiable diseases. As the clinician enters patient findings, it creates a differential diagnosis of visually identifiable diseases, drug reactions, and infections. The database contains many images from people of different ages, skin colors, body size, and other variations that can affect the recognition of these visible symptoms of disease.
