The Value of Special Collections in the 21st Century–Sept. 21, 2012

Friday, September 21, 2012, 5:30 pm, Billings North Lounge, University of Vermont

Special Collections celebrates 50 years of service in 2012. In commemoration of this important milestone, the University of Vermont Libraries is pleased to welcome distinguished librarian Mark Dimunation to speak on the continuing importance of special collections libraries. As Chief of the Rare Books and Special Collections Division at the Library of Congress, Dimunation has been responsible for the largest collection of rare books in North America since 1998. A librarian and scholar of broad interests, his current projects include reconstructing Thomas Jefferson’s library at the Library of Congress.

A reception and champagne toast will follow the lecture. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public. For more information, email uvmsc@uvm.edu or call 656-2138.
