Introduction to RefWorks

RefWorks is a web based citation management program that allows you to collect and store references from online databases or web sites, and organize the citations from books, articles, and other sources in folders according to topic area or assignment. It automatically converts citations into properly formatted bibliographies in a variety of formats (MLA and APA for example).

Register for RefWorks

RefWorks is free for UVM students, faculty, staff - all you need to get started is a UVM e-mail address and Internet access. First time users should register from on-campus.

In order to use RefWorks from off-campus you will need to supply the group code that was sent to you are part of your registration confirmation e-mail. If you can't find this information contact Karl Bridges or use the "Forgot your Password" link on the RefWorks log-in page.

Getting Started

The easiest way to add citations to your RefWorks account is to export them directly from a library database.
