    Alternative and Complementary Medicine

National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine
The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), one of the 27 institutes that make up the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH), has as its mission to support rigorous research on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), to train researchers in CAM, and to disseminate information to the public and professionals about CAM modalities. This robust web site contains treatment information by disease or condition or by type of therapy, plus information on research and clinical trials in CAM, and alerts and advisories.

    Alternative Medicine Foundation, includes HerbMed
The Alternative Medicine Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1998 to provide responsible and reliable information about alternative medicine to the public and health professionals. Part of the site is fee-based, but their lengthy "Resource Guides" are free, as is their excellent HerbMedŽ database, an evidence-based information resource about the use of herbs for professionals, researchers, and the general public.

    The Alternative Medicine Homepage
The Alternative Medicine Homepage is a jump-off point for sources of information on unconventional, unorthodox, unproven, or alternative, complimentary, innovative, integrative therapies. This page is created and maintained by a medical librarian, Charles B. Wessel, M.L.S., Health Sciences Library System, University of Pittsburgh.
