First Consult iPhone App Now Available

Friday, November 11th, 2011

The First Consult app contains featured point-of-care content from MDConsult in a mobile friendly format. The data is stored on your device (iPhone/iPod touch/iPad), so you can access it even when not connected via wireless or 3G/4G connection. The application is available for free from the Apple App Store.

To install First Consult on your iPhone/iPod touch/iPad:

  • Set up an MDConsult username and password. To do this, visit mdconsult.com on a non-mobile browser on the UVM/FAHC campus. Click on “Create an Account” at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
  • Download the FirstConsult app from the Apple App store. Tap Install. Select the option “I use First Consult and know my user name” and enter your MD Consult user name and password.
  • Once you enter your username and password, the app will download the content to your device, so it is available even when you are not connected to a network.

Contact the Reference Desk at 656-2201 or danaref@uvm.edu for assistance.

Renewing Remote Access to MD Consult

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

For those with a free personal account on MD Consult:

Right now Dana Library patrons enjoy free remote access simply by creating an account while on the UVM network. Now, a new measure will help make sure only members of UVM and FAHC are receiving this benefit.

Beginning immediately, those who have created MD Consult personal accounts will need to periodically log in while on campus to renew your remote access. You will be alerted to this the first time you log on remotely.

If you have allowed your remote log on to expire, you may be granted additional days of remote access by emailing MD Consult’s Online Support group at mdc.customerservice@elsevier.com. You must do this from either a uvm or vtmednet email account.

If you have any questions, please contact the reference desk at 656-2201.
