Medical Podcasts & Videocasts

From time to time health care practitioners ask if the Library has CD’s or some other audio format that they can listen to while commuting. Something like the old AudioDigest cassette tapes?
The 21st century approach to audiotapes is the MP3 player and similar devices. Audio files on specific topics can be periodically added to your MP3 player through a process known as podcasting. The University of British Columbia has put together a nice review of the process and a compilation of sites that offer medical podcasts.

Informatics Grand Rounds Series opens June 29

Speakers Neil Sarkar PhD MLIS, James D. Michelson MD, and Hunt Blair will present “Bioinformatics and Health Informatics Across the State of Vermont” in the inaugural session of the Informatics Grand Rounds Series on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm in the UVM/FAHC Medical Education Center Room 300 (Reardon Classroom).
The University of Vermont Center for Clinical and Translation Science (CCTS) – Informatics Unit, UVM Continuing Education, Dana Medical Library, Fletcher Allen Health Care, and the State of Vermont are sponsoring the series to promote learning about concepts and activities across the spectrum of biomedical informatics.
Dr. Sarkar is Director of the UVM CCTS Informatics Unit, Dr. Michelson is Medical Informaticist at FAHC, and Mr. Blair is Deputy Director for Health Care Reform, Office of Vermont Health Access.
