Connect to Dana Library Resources From Off Campus

The use of many library resources from off-campus is restricted to University of Vermont students, faculty, and staff and FAHC employees.
Remote access methods vary depending on your affiliation:

UVM employees or students (not on the COMIS network)
UVM College of Medicine employees or students using the COMIS network
FAHC employees

UVM faculty, students and staff

UVM faculty, students and staff can choose between EZProxy access, proxy server access or VPN access. All of these methods require the use of your UVM Network ID. Phone 656-4415 or e-mail Donna O'Malley with questions.

1. EZProxy
Logon using your UVM NetID and password. After logging on you will be redirected to the Dana Library home page. Follow links through this page to access resources restricted to UVM and FAHC users.

2. The Virtual Private Network - VPN
VPN, in addition to allowing access to library resources from off campus, will also allow access to University of Vermont campus servers. Check with your department for details.
VPN will not work with AOL or Windows 95.

  • Client based VPN Instructions

  • Web VPN
    This allows a user to create a temporary VPN connection without loading the client.  Its a little slower than a standard VPN connection because the traffic is routed through a VPN server on campus.  To access, open a browser and go to https://webvpn.uvm.edu.  Type in your NetID and password when prompted, and then enter the library URL (http://library.uvm.edu/dana).

FAHC Employees

FAHC Employees should check with the FAHC IS help desk at 847-1414 to access the Internet through FAHC. Access to the Internet through the FAHC gateway will include access to Dana Library resources.
