Guidelines for Use of Dana Medical Library Computer Classroom

The Dana Medical Library (DML) computer classroom is a multi-use facility dedicated to the support of teaching and learning in the College of Medicine (COM), College of Nursing & Health Sciences (CNHS), and other University-affiliated groups. The classroom contains twelve participant computers and one instructor computer, all equipped with contemporary features and software. Past uses of the facility include hands-on instruction in the use of electronic resources by DML librarians, demonstrations in the use of new electronic products by company representatives for DML staff, training in use of the COM information network, administration of COM examinations, and COM admissions activities.

Intended Uses

  1. classes scheduled by DML faculty or staff for teaching purposes
  2. classes scheduled by departments in the COM or CNHS
  3. classes scheduled by other UVM or UVM-affiliated departments
  4. DML overflow facility for personal uses such as accessing email, web surfing, word processing, etc.,
  5. Other

Availability

  • The classroom is open during regular Library hours.
  • A schedule for use of the classroom for the upcoming week will be posted on Monday morning.
  • When the room is not reserved, it is available for patron use.

Reserving the room

  • Requests to schedule the classroom by non-DML groups can be addressed to the DML administrative secretary, Susan Bishop ( 656-0695).
  • Reservations are accepted on a "first-come-first-served" basis.
  • During the academic semesters, the classroom should not be reserved between 11:00 pm and 1:00 pm to allow for overflow use by DML patrons.
  • Requests for use of the classroom may be denied at the discretion of the DML Director and/or Education Team.

Food & Drink

The food & drink policy of DML applies to the classroom. Patrons are asked to clean up after themselves to maintain a clean facility.

Technical Support

COMIS maintains the hardware & software on the computers in the classroom and provides technical support. COMIS is located in Given D104 and may be reached at 656-7300. DML staff members may also provide technical support when possible.
