Abstract:
Spirituality is defined as a relationship to self, others, nature, or a higher being. Nursing research has explored the recognition of one's own spirituality perspective. Previous studies have emphasized that having an awareness Of one's own spirituality enriches the nurse's personal and professional life while encouraging the provision of spiritual care to patients. In the female dominated profession of nursing, the perspective of men in nursing is absent. This phenomenological study explored the spirituality perspectives of men in nursing and their lived spiritual experiences while providing patient spiritual care. Data analyzed from individualized interviews with five men in nursing revealed the essence of men in nursing spirituality perspectives, individualized spirituality definition, and lived experiences. This phenomenon of spirituality is expressed in four themes: spiritual connection, spiritual benefit, spiritual cultivation, and spiritual separation.
