Studying behind a pile of books

Fall semester crunch time is here and it’s visible at Bailey/Howe Library. Saving you time, energy, and stress is our goal, especially during this busy time of year. Ask us!

Take a trip up to the third floor and check out some of our recommended graphic novels! Gorgeously illustrated, quick reads to keep you company during the upcoming Winter Break.

Gender Free Restroom SignageThis fall, the Bailey/Howe library added a new single-occupancy, gender-free restroom to our busy first floor. With this addition, Bailey/Howe is now home to six gender-free restrooms, accommodating eight simultaneous users, with access on each of the library’s four floors.

Bailey/Howe’s All-Night Study (midnight – 8 a.m.) resumes operation September 17th at midnight.  All Night Study can be accessed with a UVM ID from a front entrance to the Bailey/Howe Library and is typically open on school nights (Sundays – Thursdays).

New location, new computers, same great service!  Read about the upgrades made to your Center for Multimedia Development.

Events

Green Mountain Pulp highlights the work of three recent keynote presenters, Alison Bechdel, Joe Sacco and Art Spiegelman, and presents a wide range of materials on comics in and about Vermont.

Bailey/Howe library faculty will offer one-hour long workshops throughout the fall semester to help faculty and students learn about citation management programs Zotero, Endnote, and Mendeley. Come learn how to organize your research with these robust tools. All skill levels and experience are welcome.

Featuring political cartoons by Thomas Nast and other artists, Bailey/Howe Library’s current exhibit examines the fierce debates over the meaning of the Fourteenth Amendment and the development of racial stereotypes in the twenty-five years after the U. S. Civil War. “Contesting Race and Citizenship in the Gilded Age” was created by students in Professor Nicole Phelps’s Spring 2017 class, The Gilded Age.
